Claudia Arcolin has been working in the field of education and instructional technology since 2003. She holds a doctorate in Cognitive and Training Sciences and a Master’s in Continuing Education and E-Learning (both from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, Italy). In her doctoral dissertation she analyzed the connection between social capital and quality of learning as a bridge between formal and informal learning environments fostered by “Web 2.0” applications and technologies.
By working in different contexts (institutions of higher education, schools, and enterprises) she developed an applied understanding of different online strategies targeted at different customers, optimizing resources and promoting social and cultural change in the use of technologies.
She is currently working as an Instructional Designer at the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Marcela Ramirez holds an MBA and a Bachelor’s degree specializing in Computer Information Systems and Human Resources. She has been involved in online and blended course design and development since 2007. Her preceding experience includes the development of multimedia and game-based elements for teaching and learning, and design and development of fully online programs. As Interim Director of Online Learning, she works with her group to facilitate the design and development of online and blended courses at UTSA, professional development opportunities for faculty in teaching and learning with technology, as well as training and support services of UTSA’s Learning Management System for faculty and students. Her areas of interests include: eLearning, gamification, gesture-based learning, and mobile learning.
Deb Gearhart is the vice provost for e-learning and strategic Partnerships at Ohio University. Gearhart has worked in the field of distance education for 28 years. Previously she served as director of eTROY at Troy University and served as the founding director of E-Education Services at Dakota State University. Gearhart is a master reviewer and trainer for Quality Matters and has done consulting, training, and program review for distance education programs. She completed her Ph.D. program in education, with a certificate in distance education, from Capella University.
